www.Wednesdays

Brought to you by the verb “to read

In the past, present, and future tense.

As in have been reading, are currently reading,

And might read next…or are considering reading next…

This is my variation on the meme done by others,

And very well, I might add.

Have been reading…

I finished listening to Two Witches and a Whiskey by Annette Marie, narrated by Cris Dukehart. It was really good, especially the second half when there was so much action and all the fun stuff happened. Tori gets suckered by two witches into having the Crow and Hammer guild help them with another guild that is enslaving fae. She ends up tied to a very powerful and angry fae and endangering her three best buddies as well as “the ghost”, Zac, and royally pissing off her brother, Justin before it’s all over. But her dream seems to have come true at last. Tori has a familiar and that entitles her to a standing in the mythic community and membership in the Crow and Hammer as well as being able to keep her job as their bartender. I’m looking forward to book 4, Demon Magic and a Martini.

I read Relative Fortunes by Marlowe Benn, a Julia Kydd novel #1. It’s a historical cozy mystery that takes place in the 1920s, bootleg liquor and flappers. Julia Kydd is interested in opening her own press, but her inheritance is in danger from her half-brother so she’s made the trip from London to New York to straighten things out. She gets a lot more than she’s bargained for on all fronts. She meets an old school chum on the boat over and ends up embroiled in the family murder and secrets as well as getting tangled up in her own family secrets before all is settled and put in the bank. Warning, only for those with a love of printing fonts and bookmaking history, because Julia positively loves it all and thinks and talks about it a lot! I’m curious about the second book, but while you can pre-order it, you can’t find a synopsis on it so far.

Am currently listening to/reading…

I’ve started listening to Minimum Magic Wage by Rachel Aaron, narrated by Emily Woo Zeller, but I’m not too sure about it. It seems a bit YA so far. I’ve only heard chapters one and two. I’ll give it a bit more time. Maybe it was the wrong thing to listen to right after Two Witches and a Whiskey. If I set it aside and listen to something else and come back to it, maybe it’ll sound better to me?

I have literally just started (page 1) No Good Tea Goes Unpunished, Seaside Cafe series by Bree Baker. You remember the Iced Tea sleuth? She’s back! This is book #2. I’m hoping she’s still pretty good and getting better. We’ll see.

And I just acquired…

The Rabbit Girls by Anna Ellory about the girls that were experimented on in concentration camps and The Last Collection by Jeanne Mackin about the clash between Elsa Schiaparelli and Coco Chanel circa 1938.
