QUICKIES!

This is a new category of review you’ll be seeing on my blog from now on. Since the pandemic and the governor’s orders to stay at home here in N.H., U.S.A., I’ve done a lot more reading than expected this year. In fact, I just adjusted my GoodReads Reading Challenge from 150 to 250 since I had already surpassed that number a couple of weeks ago.

Keeping up with the reviews just isn’t possible for me and not all the books are ones I really want to write a full review about. I started putting “First Thoughts” in the review space on GoodReads so that I would have at least something there to support the ratings on these books I was reading. I got to thinking about the fact that not too many people were seeing them there and that I needed to come up with another solution. So I decided I would write QUICKIES! As a postcard is to a letter, so a QUICKIE! is to a Book Review.

I hope you’ll enjoy my brief remarks about these books. I will continue to write full reviews about books for which reviews have been requested. Hopefully, this will allow me to get more “reviews” out there in this shortened format. The comments will only contain high (or low) points of the book that strike me. Only my opinion, and probably in a less finished format than a full review. I don’t mean to slack or be sloppy, but I’ve read a stack of books and I’d love to share my thoughts with you.

As a postcard is to a letter, so a QUICKIE! is to a Book Review.
